Walnut Sports and Media Services Pvt. Ltd. (WSMS), as the name suggests, is a Company which develops all kinds of properties in the field of Sports and Media.
Globally Sports is not just leisure but also a career. A close observation will also reveal that it is not limited to just one sport in the country, but multiple sports. For instance while the US has its Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Football and Athletics, China has emerged with another big set of disciplines including Gymnastics, Badminton, .... and the same goes for many others.
India is a country with a billion population, a billion to play sports, a billion to watch the sports.... with the growth of satellite and cable tv and DTH, corporates are looking at investing in various sports. This means that there is a huge opportunity for Indian Diaspora to look at sports as a career option.
Till recent past Cricket was the only sport, which one could think of making a career. But slowly things are changing. Sports not just cricket, but other sports such as Football, Hockey, Basketball, Chess..... as well.
WSMS though also active in the game of cricket, but wants to play a major role in changing this mindset. There are a lot of sports, where corporates can invest and gain. This will be a gain not just for the corporates, but to individuals and the nation as a whole.
Taking the first step in the direction, WSMS alongwith its international partners Orange Sports Forum (OSF) got India its first Technical Director for football. WSMS has been alongwith the AIFF, is playing a part in setting up Football Regional Academies all over India, the first one has been inaugurated by Hon. Minister. Shri Prafull Patel in Mumbai alongwith the Dutch Minister of Sports.
